Record-Setting 2009 Bulldog Season!
The 2009 Bulldog season proved to be a record-setting year in its eighth year of existence. Along with breaking the team's single season wins total with 45, several Bulldog players marked their spot in the record book. In regards to single-season hitting records, Aaron Jones broke the batting average record, hitting .431 on the season. The record was previously owned by Whit Bryant, set in the Bulldogs first year of existence, 2001. Jones also went on to break the total hits record with 62 and came on the record board with 29 RBIs and 11 doubles.
John Neese also had an outstanding Bulldog year in 2009, reaching the record books in several offensive categories. Neese had 43 hits on the season, tied for fifth in the record book. Neese also reached the board with a .567 slugging percentage, 11 doubles, and four homeruns.
Mike Parker of Greensboro College and Stephen Andrews of Lenoir Rhyne tied for the top sport in the 2009 season with five triples. Another notable performance was Brandon McKinney with 18 stolen bases on the season.
Adam Hart and Jordan Jessup had stellar pitching performances in 2009, breaking several Bulldog records. Jordan Jessup is now the strikeout leader, with 73 strikeouts in 2009. Jessup also ties for the #2 spot in games won, with seven and complete game performances with four.
Adam Hart falls in the #3 spot with a 1.11 ERA and ties for second in games won with seven. Hart also takes the #4 slot with 52 strikeouts. Justin Wilson also hit the board with 16 appearances.
